Urban infrastructure intended for city connectivity disrupts urban patterns and often leaves behind a series of spaces without a properly defined use. Fortunately, the notion of space beneath infrastructure is being redefined, as architects are generating public spaces nestled under flyovers, bridges, and other urban structures. 

Escaping from the residential constructions that surround it, the idea of ​​housing arises from the rural landscape near the neighborhood. It is inspired by the farms that dot the landscape on the borders between the city and the countryside, where simple buildings of an industrial or agricultural nature appear.

A house on a slope and among trees. The site is located on the northern shore of a lake in southern Chile and goes from steep hills to the shore of the lake with a significant slope, with several native trees. The assignment started from the point that no trees could be touched and that the house had to be built between them, combining at the same time the view of the volcanoes, the lake and the vegetation.

Located on the slopes of Cerro del Cobre, the house is located on a predominantly southern slope over a ravine and mountain slopes. Composed of large groups of rocks, bushes, and some medium-height trees, the project is located perpendicular to the natural level of the terrain and in height seeking the position between and on the rocks that organize the place.

This new residence is located in the center of London. It replaces a typical post-war building located on a modest cobbled street within a local conservation area dominated by luxurious terraced houses along picturesque passages and streets, reflecting the rich history of English residential architecture from the 18th to the 20th century. The client sought a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the local area in the heart of Mayfair and the city in general.

House Three is part of a larger complex that has gradually been built for the same family over time. It is the third of a total of six residences planned in 2016 through a master plan that encompasses not only housing but also amenities and green spaces at the center of the complex.

San Mateo 6, a place with a long history, is a reference point in “La Movida”, located in the heart of the capital, GILDA HAUS arrives at CODOO STUDIO with a clear challenge: “design the new place to be in Madrid.” The briefing posed quite a challenge for the studio. It involved the traditional tavern as a meeting point, the classic cocktail bar culture for after-work gatherings, and a diverse range of electronic music DJs. These were several concepts that needed to coexist within the same space.

Architecture office NOMO STUDIO has finished a nature-informed villa consisting of four identical rectangular volumes stepping down steep terrain on the island of Menorca. The house features locally sourced limestone, earthenware vaulted ceilings, and sandy-colored masonry and concrete, all blended into a mélange of soft airy tones. The façade keeps a solid-glazed equilibrium and uses heavy high thermal inertia materials, essential to ensure stable temperatures in mild-hot climates.

It was about designing a welcoming space for the families of patients, a meeting point between family members, center professionals, and patients themselves. It had to be a friendly, familial space, very domestic in terms of dimensions, with emphasis on materials, colors, light, both natural and artificial, and above all, easily related to the building and existing spaces.
