The Brisa building is located in Leblon, a beloved neighborhood of the Cariocas, at the corner of Igarapava Street and Visconde de Albuquerque Avenue. Besides being a tree-lined street, it is an important point of integration between the Lagoa, Av. Ataulfo de Paiva, and Av. Delfim Moreira, both commercial areas of the neighborhood, with the privilege of having all of this within walking distance, including the beach.
Casa HPZ was conceived during the pandemic period, to serve as a refuge, providing contact with nature and bringing together family and friends in an inviting and comfortable environment. They wanted a house with personality and practicality, which would be spacious but without losing coziness, not being too big, with five suites. They wanted to prioritize leisure and common-use areas.
Montes Claros is a city located in the northern region of Minas Gerais, with intense economic activity and service offerings, constituting a regional center. Located on a more or less flat area 700m above sea level, the city is surrounded by a mountain range that rises to an altitude of 1,000m. This geographical condition establishes a horizon contained by hills with soft contours, which in some way refer to the name of the city itself.
The breath of creation permeated the house, suddenly brimming with her tools and work. The sculptor needed to add a compact atelier to her home on the north shore of St. Michael Island, Azores. Within the farm compound (where two and a half decades ago our first project The Floating Cloud House was idealized), there is now a new workspace sprouting from the kitchen with two clay ovens, an archive, a reception area for clients, and a showroom and workshop area.
The Castelatto Pavilion was implemented in the company’s industrial complex, located outside the urban area of Atibaia, surrounded by low hills and green areas. The production warehouses occupy a significant part of the land, but there are also preserved green areas and a riparian forest along the stream that surrounds the property. Between the riparian forest and the warehouses, a proportionate area was designated for the construction of the Pavilion, due to its representative and institutional character.
Located in the city of Mucugê, surrounded by the Serra do Sincorá, this house gave us the privilege of designing in an exceptional environment, Chapada Diamantina, in the interior of Bahia. The lot is in front of the Santa Isabel Church, in the square of the same name. The city has an architectural complex of 2 churches, 300 single-story houses, and 10 townhouses listed by IPHAN (Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage), which further increased our responsibility for the concept to be adopted and other design decisions.
Following the completion of the ground floor house, and the broader research, reground Porto, oitoo was commissioned with yet another opportunity to reuse and repurpose an unused ground floor space.
The project started from the demand for a house that could be built in the shortest possible time. All its modularity, finishing options and choice of structural materials are based on this premise. The option for the use of metal structure was therefore due to the available budget, the availability of raw materials in the market at the time of the project and the speed of assembly of the structure. On the other hand, other secondary items of the work, such as wooden ceilings and ground floors, were assembled and/or built by local labor. Thus, the Casa 350 project combines a predominantly prefabricated construction with small sections built in an artisanal way.
Niko is a small Japanese restaurant, between tradition and the future. It was up to architecture to give materiality to this contradiction. On the one hand, it refers to street commerce, the lights, the signs, and the colors in contrast with the city’s concrete. On the other hand, offering dynamics through technological possibilities, projecting what this business would be like in the encounter of different times.
Located in the interior of São Paulo, a spacious garden of over 2,000 m² harmonizes with the architecture of a residence designed by Marcelo Couto Arquitetura. The landscaping, a collaboration between Couto and agronomist and landscape designer Rodrigo Oliveira, features a natural integration of a reflecting pool, swimming pool, and spa. The lush vegetation, composed of native species, softens the architectural lines and provides a feeling of warmth and connection. The garden, strategically designed for privacy, connects the social and intimate areas. Despite being only three years old, the vegetation thrives with minimal maintenance. The landscaping, which breaks the architectural rigidity, humanizes the space and brings nature inside the house.
