Ahead of the Elizabeth Line’s opening on 24 May, Dezeen was given an exclusive tour of one of its stations by the subterranean railway’s head of architecture Julian Robinson.
Described by Robinson as “more mannered” than its Jubilee line predecessor, the subterranean train line, also known as Crossrail, will eventually run 118 kilometres across the south of England.
Other stories in this week’s newsletter include the completion of OMA’s Taipei Performing Arts Center in Taiwan, Frank Gehry’s Battersea Power Station housing development and an opinion piece on the global housing crisis by architect and urbanist Vishaan Chakrabarti.
You can also subscribe to Dezeen Debate, which is sent every Thursday and contains a curated selection of highlights from the week, as well as Dezeen Daily, our daily bulletin that contains every story published in the preceding 24 hours on Dezeen.
