rhombic-shaped ‘house wustrow’ near berlin redefines boathouse and barn typology

The holiday house at the Mecklenburg Lake District Area, near Berlin, is a 2-storey maisonette which redefines the regional boathouse and barn typology. The slightly asymetrical, rhombic-shaped building is a prefabricated timber construction. The floor levels are accessible and connected via ramps and stairs. When walking around, the building generated changing impressions while the windows capture different views of the landscape. They create a multiplicity of lighting moods, which also change depending on the time of day and the season.
