Just outside an Austrian village, surrounded by forested mountains and crisp, clean air, one finds a kindergarten where nature takes centre stage. Wood, wood, and more wood form the educational setting for the children’s play and learning. Architect Armin Neurauter and his team won the competition for the design of a new type of preschool with room for life, development, and didactic stimulation for the children.

Roma Norte is a neighborhood in Mexico City full of history and movement, known for its cultural, gastronomic, and architectural display. The taco place “Los Alexis” is located on Chiapas street, a space that pays tribute to informal commerce that takes the space by reinterpreting a street taco “changarro” within its commercial premises, with a simple menu of 2 tacos, the Taurinos and Asada.

AESOP DTLA Store / Brooks + Scarpa

This new house is located within one of Canberra’s most strongly landscape suburbs – Aranda. The suburb is characterized by mature native Eucalypts and Acacias which are prevalent as street trees, parkland plantings and adjacent public reserve. The house comprises 3 bedrooms, kitchen/dining/living space, wet areas, and garage. The primary parti of the project is to establish an internal living environment that embraces the views and textural qualities offered by the strong landscape setting – this strategy has driven internal planning decisions and resultant building form.

Other alterations may be temporary, but 2020 will be remembered as the year when we enjoyed the interior of our homes the most. Although video calls and take-away food are trending, this is no excuse for forgetting the importance of public space.
