House of Craft –‘Power Station Configurator’, a scaffolding architectural installation, transforms the three-story riverfront platform of Power Station of Art Shanghai into a flexible and changing field. The first thing one sees at the narrow end of the platform is a scaffolding module, while on the larger area behind it, there are more modules, which are lined up towards the Huangpu River, forming a creative exhibition site for contemporary craftsmanship of China. First, this triangle space is divided. The entire space is divided into smaller modules so that the newly placed structure can adapt to the various sizes of various exhibiting items. The independent modules built by scaffolding can be moved and combined. Each module has four sides of curtains which can be adjusted to open up or enclose the display space of a module. The wooden display system designed for each module provides a hidden and unique small space for different sizes of craftwork. It restores the work site of contemporary craftsmen through the display of text, images, videos, etc.

The public park serves as a vibrant hub for a wide range of social activities such as markets, forums, exhibitions, music, and theatrical performances.

Jingshan Flower Sea Tent Pavilion / Zhejiang A&F University Landscape Architecture Institute + Beeeed Atelier

The Flower Sea Tent Pavilion is located in Jingshan, which is famous for its tea culture, forest landscape, and Buddhist mood. So, the design started from the thinking of the original relationship between humans and nature, with the initial intention which was simple and open. In order to create a primitive sense, we chose the form of a suspended roof, and the stretching skeleton and skin form naturally emerge, just like the simple tea sunshades that can be seen everywhere on the Tea Mountain in Jingshan.

Central City Apartment Shenzhen / X-ZOO Design

“Open space provides freedom of growth and opportunity for new possibilities. One immersed in the space should experience the freedom of living through creatively interacting with it.” This is what designers Margie and Xinru said in regard to the idea of “freedom” in space. They implemented this idea in a high-rise apartment in the central area of Shenzhen. The owner of the apartment has a dual identity of being an artist and a successful entrepreneur in the medical field. In her ideal world, she imagined the apartment is a flexible space that not only meets the needs of the team working, but also a place for business gatherings and entertainment, individual work, and leisure. Therefore, on the premise of satisfying both leisure and work functions, Margie and Xinru weakened the sense of boundaries defining a specific function. Transformed the space into one that switches modes at will, just like how the owner of the apartment change between multiple identities.

Whether it’s the physical spaces or the products, they convey the founder’s passion for and exploration of contemporary Oriental aesthetics. The essence of the brand lies in the acceptance of time. RUHAUS STUDIO has taken on the design of TEA WELL’s fifth store, and synchronously reimagined and upgraded the space style to complement the updated product line. Creating spaces in the urban environment that integrate Oriental aesthetics and natural experiences requires us to trace back to the origins of traditional Chinese painting. We strive to rediscover the Eastern way of observing nature that resonates with the Eastern mindset. By bringing this approach into the lives of today’s young people, we aim to establish a harmonious connection between space and emotions and reconstruct a better Oriental world that invites exploration.
