First Asia Pacific adidas flagship in Myeongdong, Seoul – Featuring the “Home of Sport” concept, adidas has opened its first Asia Pacific flagship store in the unique and bustling shopping district Myeongdong, a must-visit spot in South Korea. Various Associates, the only Chinese design firm that participated in the flagship design, partnered with adidas to extract local Korean elements and blend them with adidas brand personality, creating a “home of sport” with closer connections and deeper resonance with local customers. The store integrates into the bustling streets of Myeongdong, where diverse types of business and public activities take place. Surrounded by the cooking aroma among small stalls, this flagship creatively conveys the core value of friendliness and inclusiveness from the overarching concept of “Home of Sport”.

Shandong Provincial Cultural and Art Center / architecturestudio

As the capital city of Shandong Province, Jinan is not only the center of provincial politics, economy, culture, and education; but also, a tourist city with the unique natural features of “mountains, springs, lakes, and rivers” with far-reaching history and culture. The project is in the core area of the west new town of Jinan. A square site with each side being about 400 meters long. The Grand Theatre is on the south side of the site. As a significant landmark in local urban planning, the total site area is 16.02 hectares, and the construction area is 380,000 square meters. The project was divided into two phases, spending nearly 12 years from the competition to fully furnished. Site scale, building volumes, and urban planning scale are challenges for the studio.

Maison de la Chine Dorms / Atelier FCJZ + CAAU

A permanent exposition of architecture – This project is located in the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris (CIUP) in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris. The university city was established to provide housing primarily to international students in Paris in 1925 and has now more than 40 dormitory buildings named after different countries. It is well known for its remarkable collection of architecture, such as the ‘Collège Néerlandais’ (The Netherlands College,1926) designed by Willem M. Dudok, the ‘Pavilion Suisse’ (The Pavilion of Switzerland, 1930) by Le Corbusier, the ‘Maison du Brésil’ (Home of Brazil,1954) by Lucio Costa and Le Corbusier, and the ‘Pavilion de L’Iran’ (Pavilion of Iran,1969) by Claude Parent.
