This project was referred to us at a time when its structure was based on a neoclassical design. The client’s request was to revise the design of the plans and facade in a modern style. This building has 5 residential units with an area of 330 square meters on each floor, one residential unit on the ground floor near the lobby, and three underground floors. According to the existing structure and the implementation of basement ramps in order to provide maximum parking on the mentioned floors, the common areas of the building include a sports space and a communal space with a movable roof on the roof and adjacent to the roof garden.

MONOCHROME in Fukuoka Residential Complex / SAKO Architects

Privacy and Curtains – Located just a three-minute walk from a subway station in a commercial area dense with mid-to-high-rise buildings, this residential complex is built. Standardized apartment layouts in the real estate market are repeatedly used regardless of the surrounding environment. As a result, in places where it is difficult to secure privacy, curtains remain closed day and night. The continuity between the interior spaces and the balconies is compromised, undermining the spatial role of the balconies.

Tenjincho Place Apartment Complex / Hiroyuki Ito Architects

The site is located along the approach to a renowned shrine and on the edge of a plateau in Yushima, Tokyo. In recent years, numerous hotels in the area have been replaced by apartment complexes, resulting from a rapid transformation of the area’s character. Two complexities of the site have been significant factors for the design–the shape of the plot and the lighting conditions resulting from high-rise buildings surrounding it from three directions. By wrapping a curved volume around a central void, each residential unit obtains light, wind, and views.

Plot 33 Residence and Studio / playball studio

April 4, 2024 Pilar Caballero 0

‘Plot 33’ is an honest study about how to achieve a balance between inside-outside, work-life, privacy-openness, reused-new materials, adaptability-single use, etc. This project is also an attempt to amalgamate the aspirations of an Architect duo coming from diverse backgrounds – South Asia (India) and Southern Europe (Spain) – in the rapidly growing city of Rajkot, India. The site is located in a tight urban residential neighborhood adjacent to the region’s university campus. It is a 10 x 24 meters parcel of land, with the northern short side facing the road that leads to the university. On the opposite side of the plot, across the road, there is a small public park with large sheltering trees.
