Tucana is more than an architectural project on the second line of the beach in Telchac, it is a response to the evolution and direction of the municipality. In recent years, Telchac has witnessed significant growth in the real estate sector, becoming a key point for important developments in the state of Yucatan. This coastal town has transformed into a thriving community that provides services and amenities to residents and visitors in the area.
In this project, an attempt has been made to provide the most accurate response to the surrounding environment along with the highest feedback in interaction with the surrounding events for the residents. After years of weekend visits and time spent getting to know their site, the client’s main charge was to realize a house that would allow them to use and enjoy the land to its fullest. Located in the rolling landscape of Wimberley, Texas, it was only natural to take advantage of the miniature plateaus contained within the 22-acre lot. These “land shelves” span across the site in the east-west direction making them an ideal platform for a house that takes advantage of both solar and wind orientation.
Nestled in the heart of the historic 16th arrondissement of Paris, at the intersection of Boulevard Exelmans and Rue Michel-Ange, this ten-story building occupies a privileged position within a corner plot. On one side, it’s next to a six-story Parisian-style building dating back to 1912, designed by the architect Lucien Demenais. On the other side, a ten-story building, designed by Pierre Puccinelli built in 1972, presents a dynamic composition with protruding volumes onto the street. The true complexity of this project lies in creating an architectural template that restores a harmonious continuity between these two entities.
Situated in the heart of Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana, this mountain retreat rises into the dense fir and pine trees, offering a close connection to the natural environment for the owner’s family. With their main residence in Manhattan, the owner couple desired a vacation home where they could reconnect with nature and encourage their three children to experience the landscape as they grow up. The husband spent time growing up on his grandfather’s tree farm in New Hampshire and wanted to recreate those treasured experiences amongst nature for his young family.
Nestled within the charming town of Pāvilosta, this residence masterfully marries tradition with contemporary aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from the historic fishing village’s vibrant wooden homes, the design imbibes the colorful essence of small streets lined with quaint, painted houses.
Located in the hills of Montecito, California, a 2,500-square-foot, 1970s residence and combination guesthouse/home office presented the design team with the challenge of achieving a bold program with a modest budget. Collaborating with the client, the designers reworked the home to invest it with a unique residential character and bring it up to date. Focused on orienting the design around the property’s surrounding environment, the home now frames dramatic views of the surrounding Santa Ynez mountains through expansive glass openings.
