In spring 2015, the SW family tasked us with planning their own home on the edge of a newly designated rural residential area in the municipality of Altenberg in Upper Austria. The starting point for the planning was the desire for an intelligently designed timber construction that combines living and working under one roof and offers large, covered open spaces.

Tasik Creative and Innovation Center is designed by SHAU as an example of ‘socio-climatic’ design strategy specifically tailored to the context of West Java, Indonesia. It was commissioned by former Governor Ridwan Kamil to support emerging creative communities and individual artists in Tasikmalaya, a vibrant city with approximately 733,000 inhabitants, located 120km Southeast of Bandung and known for its weaving craftsmanship.

The task. The park-like site with its ancient trees was to become the building site for a young family’s home. Surrounded by historic villas, all those involved focus on the responsibility associated with the site and continuing to build in an urban context.

Maya (n) A Sanskrit word with unclear etymology, probably comes from the root mā, which means “to measure”. The wondrous and mysterious power to turn an idea into a physical reality, a state of mind, or perhaps consciousness, an Illusion, or appearance. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, carved into one of the many picturesque rock formations in the city of Hyderabad is a sprawling colony with lanes shaded by seasoned trees, roads sparingly lit by rays of filtered light that fall on a bed of red, yellow and green. Nestled discreetly within a lane of ever-changing houses is the home of a family of four with agrarian roots.

Lying on the east side of Cobos Street and south of Route 89 is the Finca where the Alpamanta Winery will be built. Through a street on the south side, you enter the estate, this street flanked by olive trees and surrounded by organic vineyards leads us to the property available for the winery located axially in the center of the property and arranged in a rhombus shape for the orthogonal organization of the same.

An eco-friendly approach to hospitality, in full respect of the region and its preexisting elements: the new Green Lodges of the Terme Preistoriche Resort & Spa in Montegrotto Terme (PD), designed by Studio Apostoli, is meant to be a manifesto of zero-emission wellness hospitality. Seven suites are incorporated into four wooden stilted structures and interconnected through a raised system of ramps, walkways, and accessible terraces. They also include a historically preserved villa, the eighth and most extensive offering within this entrepreneurial endeavor. 160 micro piles support the new constructions and outdoor spaces, preserving the roots of the age-old trees. Alberto Apostoli, the founder of the Verona-based studio responsible for the development, meticulously mapped these trees before outlining any project proposals.

The town of Tequila, Jalisco. It’s in the middle of the tequila industry and a thriving tourist destination. This has generated the disorderly growth of the city, with industrialized materials, with high energy consumption, the identity of one of the most emblematic towns in Mexico for having a “modern” concept of architecture and an agave landscape.
